Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) is a public university in Bangladesh.

In 2013, a landmark act of Parliament gave birth to Bangladesh's first ever maritime university – the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU). Recognizing the need to keep pace with the evolving world of maritime education and research, BSMRMU embarked on its journey as the 37th public university of the country, simultaneously claiming the title of the 3rd maritime university in South Asia and the 12th globally. Its motto, "We Strive for Maritime Excellence," reflects its ambitious vision for elevating Bangladesh's maritime sector.

Born amidst high hopes, BSMRMU established its home in Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj District, strategically located within the Dhaka Division. Recognizing the critical role of practical experience, BSMRMU boasts a dedicated Ship Operation Training Center. This unique facility provides students with hands-on training, simulating real-world scenarios and nurturing their competence in operating vessels.
