University of Science and Technology of China is a public research university in Hefei, Anhui, China. It is one of the most prestigious universities in China, and is known for its strong programs in science and engineering. The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) was founded in 1958 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Beijing. It was established to cultivate the country's most promising scientific and technological talent. In 1970, USTC was relocated to Hefei, Anhui Province.
In 1978, USTC founded the first graduate school in China and established the first "special class for the gifted young." USTC is also known for its strong research programs, with 11 national research platforms and 8 science-education integration colleges.
